The New Jersey CannaBusiness Association (NJCBA) will be hosting an educational seminar for professionals looking to get involved in the cannabis industry. The seminar, “Beyond Cannabis 101: A Deep Dive Into Law, Legislation, Applications and Operations,” will feature a series of speakers who will provide the latest information on New Jersey’s adult-use cannabis legalization efforts, the expansion of the state’s medical cannabis industry and how to get involved.

Assembly Speaker Coughlin has noted that New Jersey is on “the one-yard line” on adult-use cannabis legalization, while Senate President Sweeney has said that legalization “will get passed one way or another.” As the legislature and governor move ahead on the issue, expected as soon as May, it is critical that those interested in the progress of legalization and medical expansion have the most up-to-date information. This event will provide just that.

Among the featured speakers will be Senator Nicholas Scutari, Assemblywoman Annette Quijano and Assemblyman Jamel Holley. All three are sponsors of S2703/A4497, the legislation that would legalize adult-use cannabis in New Jersey. They will provide updates on current efforts to pass the legislation and possible expansion of the state’s medical cannabis program.

Former Giants wide receiver and Super Bowl champion Amani Toomer will also be on hand to speak about his involvement in the cannabis industry and how it will benefit New Jersey. Additional speakers include High Times magazine co-owner Nico Escondido, Blazin’ Bakery owner Tara “Misu” Sargente and New Jersey’s largest cannabis operator, George Schidlovsky of Curaleaf, as well as other experts in the cannabis field.

“Our list of featured speakers is the strongest that has ever been put together for a single cannabis-related event here in New Jersey,” said NJBCA President Scott Rudder.  “We are aiming for legalization of adult-use cannabis and the expansion of the medical program by May. So if you want to know what is going on with adult-use and medical cannabis, our speakers are the folks you are going to want to hear from and talk to. This will go beyond the basics, and take a deeper dive into how the industry will work, what current and future law means, and how people can get involved and best benefit the state.”
