New Jersey CannaBusiness Association (NJCBA) President Scott Rudder praised state lawmakers and New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy for passing and signing into law the “Jake Honig Compassionate Use Medical Cannabis Act,” which expands New Jersey’s medicinal cannabis program.
“This law will bring much-needed relief to thousands of New Jerseyans,” said Rudder. “The science is clear: medical cannabis is much more effective for patients than opioid or prescription drugs and does not create the horrible consequences of addiction. This legislation will benefit patients by making medicinal cannabis more accessible and more affordable. I want to thank Governor Murphy and legislative leadership for doing the right thing by those who desperately need this medicine. Today is a gigantic leap forward.”
Rudder also announced that the NJCBA will be hosting a workshop and educational seminar for would-be cannabis entrepreneurs. This event will provide information about the New Jersey Department of Health’s Request for Application process for the newest round of medical cannabis licenses. It will also help participants gain a better understanding of the new law and its implications.
This event will take place on Wednesday, July 10 from 3 p.m. – 6 p.m. at the Rutgers University Inn and Conference Center, located at 178 Ryders Lane in New Brunswick.
