New Jersey CannaBusiness Association (NJCBA) President Edmund DeVeaux issued the following statement today on the New Jersey Cannabis Regulatory Commission taking no action on the still outstanding 2019 medical application round during their meeting:
“Another CRC meeting has come and gone without addressing the two-year old dilemma that is the 2019 application process. Meanwhile, patients continue to lose affordable access to the medicine that they need and those who applied in 2019 have lost time and countless dollars waiting for action.
“Moving forward on these applications is a critical component to New Jersey’s cannabis industry. This failure to act will have a ripple effect on everyone involved or trying to get involved in the cannabis market. These delays are particularly harmful for smaller mom-and-pop microbusinesses and minority and women-owned businesses. They are waiting for much anticipated inclusion in the industry that had shut them out for so long and now may see a delay in that process, which is exactly what we did not want to happen. They cannot afford to keep waiting and neither can the State.
“This delay was highly inconvenient but understandable before. Now, it is totally unacceptable and the State needs to take action immediately.”
